YUKO SHIMIZU （日本名：清水裕子）
Yuko Shimizu adalah ilustrator freelance yang berbasis di New York City dan instruktur ilustrasi di School of Visual Arts. Newsweek Jepang telah memilih dia sebagai salah satu dari "100 Orang Jepang paling dihormati di dunia" di tahun 2009.
Menggambar sudah menjadi hobi Yuko sejak dia bisa mengingat. Namun, tumbuh dalam keluarga tradisional Jepang, mengejar jalan dalam seni bukanlah pilihan. Setelah menerima gelar BA dalam Ilmu Iklan dan Pemasaran - yang paling kreatif dari bidang praktis - dari Universitas Waseda ia bekerja di posisi PR untuk sebuah perusahaan besar di Tokyo.
Namun hal ini tak pernah membuatnya cukup bahagia, dan dia berada dalam krisis paruh baya pada usia 22.
Lebih dari 10 tahun Yuko menjalani pekerjaan kantor sebelum dia tahu, apa yang benar-benar ingin dia lakukan dan tidak menyianyiakan ilmu yang dia dapat selama lebih dari 4 tahun.
Yuko kembali ke New York pada tahun 1999, di mana dia pernah menghabiskan masa kecilnya, dan terdaftar di School of Visual Arts (SVA). Yuko lulus dengan MFA dari Esai Visual Ilustrasi sebagai Program pada tahun 2003 dan telah mulai menggambarkan. Dia juga mengajar kursus BFA Ilustrasi dan kadang-kadang menyarankan para siswa MFA di SVA.
Dia bekerja di sebuah studio di Manhattan, ruangan dimana dia dengan dua seniman yang ia anggap sebagai 'Keluarga New York'.
Setiap kali dia memiliki waktu, Yuko suka melakukan perjalanan ke berbagai kota dan negara untuk kuliah di sekolah seni, dan bertemu dengan seniman lain, profesor dan calon ilustrator muda untuk mendapatkan inspirasi.
Terkadang, dia sering dikira Yuko Shimizu, orang yang membuat karakter Hello Kitty. ^_^
Hampir semua karyanya, menampilkan corak gambar pensil yang kuat, yang mirip dengan lukisan-lukisan jepang.
